Lin Fa Temple, Tai Hang

A brisk stroll away from Causeway Bay, the quiet neighbourhood of Tai Hang is home to remnants of historic Hong Kong, including Lin Fa Temple. Established in 1863, the declared monument is dedicated to Kwun Yum, the Goddess of Mercy, and has undergone many reconstructions. But the unique half-octagonal, lotus-like architecture, in which it was named after, remained the same. Step within to find dragon-themed details, including a mural over the ceiling and golden dragon motifs — a representation of the temple’s close connection to the traditional Tang Hai Fire Dragon Dance, held on the eve of Mid-Autumn Festival every year.
